Manet is happy to report that all five of its practice locations are now PCMH PRIME Certified with Manet’s Houghs Neck, Snug Harbor and Taunton receiving notification from the Health Policy Commission (HPC) in late January. Manet’s North Quincy and Hull sites received certification in April and December 2017, respectively.
The HPC, in collaboration with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), developed the PCMH PRIME Certification program to emphasize the importance of behavioral health integration in primary care. To become certified, a practice must meet key criteria and certification is effective for up to three years.
Manet Diabetes Program Earns Re-accreditation
Thanks to the great work of our CMO, Lily Yung and Quality and Care Management teams, Manet’s Diabetes Self-Management Education Program has received re-accreditation from the AADE Diabetes Education Accreditation Program (DEAP). This recognition is a voluntary process which assures that the approved patient education program has met the national standards. Also, it assures consumers that the health professionals teaching the program provide the most up to date information about diabetes management.
Health Center Funding Cliff Fixed! Thank YOU!
Community Health Centers (CHCs) across the nation are breathing easier since Congress struck a two-year bipartisan budget deal that includes more than $7.8 billion for in federal grant funding for the Community Health Center program.
This is welcome news for the nation’s nearly 1400 health centers and the 27 million patients they serve. With uncertainty around funding now put to rest, we are can focus solely on what we do best – care for our patients and communities. Here at Manet, this means expanding access to high quality primary care and supportive, behavioral health and social services for residents along the South Shore and Southeastern MA via our access points in Quincy, Hull and Taunton.
This reauthorization is testament not only to the bipartisan support from our lawmakers, but also to the commitment of Health Center Advocates who spoke out on our behalf. We thank our Congressional delegation, including Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey and Representatives Joseph Kennedy III, Stephen Lynch and William Keating, for their strong support and acknowledgement of CHCs as accessible, high-quality, cost-effective health care providers. And we thank the many loyal patients, staff, community partners and more who called, emailed, posted and tweeted to elevate the issue of CHC funding above the din in Washington. Thank you for responding to the alerts and taking action!

Don't Let the Flu Get You!
Flu season is in full swing in Massachusetts but there are steps you can take to stay healthy and prevent the spread of illness.
Get your flu shot. It's not too late – there’s still time to protect yourself and your family from the serious illnesses that flu can cause.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people. Sleep in separate beds, etc.
If you are sick, stay home and limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them. Stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
Manet this week deployed a squadron of new "interpreters" to help staff provide outstanding care, on-demand, for limited English proficient, deaf and hard-of-hearing patients.
Using Lanuage Line InSight Video Interpreting ®, Manet staff will now have one-touch access to trained professional video interpreters anywhere, anytime. With just a few taps, patients and staff are greeted by a live interpreter who is able to facilitate full understanding through spoken and visual communication, capturing both body language and facial expressions. The Interpeter on Wheels can be moved anywhere in the clinic and can be used in exam rooms, the front desk and elsewhere, enhancing the patient experience and Manet's already strong live and telephonic interpretation capabilities. Video interpreting is offered in 35 languages.
